Malta Marathon 2025

The Malta Marathon, one of Europe’s oldest and most celebrated marathons, returns for its 40th edition in 2025. Renowned for its fast and scenic routes, the event includes both a full and half marathon, adhering to World Athletic regulations.

Both races start at the historic walls of Mdina, Malta’s medieval capital, and descend from 195m above sea level to the coast, offering participants a unique blend of countryside and urban scenery. The final stretch passes the picturesque harbors before finishing in Sliema, a vibrant seaside town.

The marathon has gained global recognition, with times qualifying for prestigious events like the Boston and Berlin Marathons. In recent years, records have been consistently broken, including the women’s marathon record of 2:35 in 2024. The half marathon remains equally competitive, with current records of 1:13 for women and 1:02 for men.

To ensure a smooth experience, transportation to the starting line is provided from Sliema, allowing participants to easily return to their accommodations after the race.
